Result of Integrity in the Workplace
Through the following case studies about ethics in the workplace, both the positive and negative side of what could happen will be shown. You will see two different results due to ethics that management weren't getting or had. Even though the staff did the best things, without sound honest judgment by management, nothing at all positive was accomplished; in fact a more bad outcome was achieved. The 2nd study depicts the proper way to take care of an values issue and shows various results since ethical practices were followed. The 1st study shows just the opposite. The goal of this paper should be to represent the proper and wrong ways that managing handles ethical conflicts in the work place. Keep in mind for the purpose of our study, " The key to understanding the ethics is to understand our belief system" (University of Phoenix [UOP], 1998-2006, 1) Example: Steve wants to leave IT.
The Networking group has many duties. The office performs advancement work for the many custom Solution applications. The group also performs system administration of several UNIX, NT, CPANEL, and Novell client/server systems. Another part of this work is to carry out the task of small-scale telecoms engineering. Finally, the group is responsible for every administrative PERSONAL COMPUTER issues around the company network located in 3 buildings. All this work is carried out with 3 people. Fine needles to say, the group demands help. Steve does not just like the IT section. He used to solve problems with PC hardware and software, but now he has been relegated to taking care of the 50+ Air Force necessary Computer Security Plans (CSPs) and getting rid of non-repairable THIS hardware and old application. Both of these jobs are paperwork-intensive. Pouring over what appears to be an endless pile of paperwork is certainly not what Sam had in mind if he took the task in IT.
